Info on AVG AntiVirus Software?

I am looking for any information, good or bad, that you can give me on AVG AntiVirus Software.

I have done google searches but I can't find many reviews. I would not be going with the free version as it does not have any spyware protection.

If anyone can recomend any other VP or let me know which ones *not* to use, that would also be appreciated.

The paid (anti malware) version of AVG is basically just a combination of the free AVG anti-virus and the free AVG anti-spyware. Pretty much a rip-off if you ask me.

I would personally reccommend AVG 7.5, or norton antivirus/spyware.
I like AVG (http://free.grisoft.com), personally, because it is free, effective, and user-friendly.

If you want Anti-Spyware, download Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org).
AVG free is excellent. I've been using it for almost a year. For free spyware software, get Spybot and Ad-Aware. Now you're covered!
I use AVG 7.5, and never had a problem, plus it takes up less memory space than Norton. I also use Ad Aware SE Pro for deep scanning.
AVG is done by Grisoft (http://www.grisoft.com) and works fine for what it is meant to do. There are many other programs available, have a look at this site and see what's there for anti-virus and anti-spyware. They're all free programs like AVG, but some may have an upgrade option.

Hi, AVG is actually really nice. Your system will be safe with it. Also if u like u could get Norton Anti Virus. Whatever u do please don't get McAfee, it SUCKS. That is the worst protection program ever. Also if u want free stuff then just get these:

Windows has its own parental controls you can adjust them to protect your children. You need to limit what they have access to.

To set up a new Limited account in Windows XP, click the Start button, then select Control Panel %26gt; User Accounts and follow the instructions.

To do this in Windows Vista, click the Start button %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; User Accounts and Family Safety %26gt; User Accounts and then follow the instructions.

just go to google.com/images and search up what ever u want open the picture and right click save as and save into my pictures go to my pictures and right click set as bacround and u have a new screen saver to make it easy on u just go back to spep one open the picture then right click there and save as backround item and there u have it enjoy

Search Engine Redirect?

You probably heard bunch of topics about this. I tried to read all of them. Every time I click on link at either Yahoo or Google it redirects to some other advertisement site.

I need serious help. I tried Zone Alarm, CCleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy, Registry Mechanic, Microsoft Defender. Tried free version of Webroot Spysweeper and PC Tools Spyware Doctor.

Please help. If I won't fix this then I should just probably format Windows. This is kind of inconvenient though, since I don't have enough memory. HELP and THANKS. =[

Your machine must have been compromised better you should format your PC then install some good spyware such as AVG to protect your PC from getting infected.

I use this program to scan my system, STOPzilla, but its just a free trial scan and it says i have spyware as a registry key such as "hklm\software\microsoft\compression" and i have a host file and the location saying "66.98.148.65 auto.search.msn.com" and i was wondering how to delete this problem.

Its a false positive. The hosts entry is just the default search provider for Internet Explorer. STOPzilla is known for alot of ridiculous false positives.It used to contain spyware a few years ago. I hear they stopped distributing spyware, but it's still a mediocre program. I hear the pop-up blocker is the best part of it.

You can edit the Hosts file entries in Notepad. But, just like the Registry, make a full backup of it before you start. Deleting entries is fairly simple, just highlight them, click backspace then Save.

I've never liked popup blockers because they usually stop what's already infecting your computer. Use a firewall, an antivirus and some anti-spyware applications.
You can manually delete the key by going Start %26gt; run %26gt; "regedit"

Then search for the key yourself.

Let me warn you first, be sure to back up your registry before you do anything because your computer may suffer from permanent damages should you try to delete any keys which are necessary for the start up of your computer. If I were you, I won't touch those stuffs. I will probably ignore that spyware that STOPzilla claims it is. Don't trust it!

also, just on a side note, the videocard is quite lackluster in comparison to the rest of the machine.

The Core 2 is one of the best, and is a great OC'er.

Considering if you were selling it with the OS disc and all included software, etc, this system would likely fetch I would say around $675-$1200. This range is optimum and the lower portion is more likely than the higher. From the experience as a computer builder and IT, the processor brings the price up, but your major pitfall is that this system is used and not "new" and as such must be asessed as a depreciated item without warranty. I would say a fair price would be in the range of $600 to $850.
